Tonight I am reminiscing a
bit about life, having been contacted by someone I used to be in a band with in
the Navy. I never realized that he was older than I am by eight months.
It is funny how time flies
and we all end up becoming older, if the proverbial "Life's Bus"
doesn't come around the corner and run us over first.
I remember telling another
friend I was stationed with back in 1980 in Hawaii, “You are cool for 30.” I
was not quite 25 years of age.
I wonder if the “kids” in
my workshops, many of them getting ready to “retire” from the military, look at
me in the same way. The youngest of the group of retirees are my daughter’s
age.
“You’re cool for being
nearly 60,” they might say.
I never was one of the
“cool” kids before.
I suppose I am still
holding out for hope.
